Only one British rifle jacket remains from this period, in the National Army Museum in London. A reproduction of it was made by the military adviser to the series, and this was used as the basis for the uniform worn by Sean Bean in the films. It has 22 silver buttons in each one of three rows, with black silk twists between each row, with black velvet collar and cuffs. A 'Light Infantry' sash is wrapped around the waist, and a black leather shoulderbelt/pouch with silver chains and a whistle in a special holster is worn over the left shoulder. Only in full-dress is the pelisse overjacket worn trimmed with mink. fur worn. |
